Patrick Star is the deuteragonist of the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. He is also the deuteragonist of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, a supporting character in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, the tritagonist of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, the tritagonist of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical, and the titular protagonist of his own spin-off series The Patrick Star Show.
He is SpongeBob's best friend, neighbor, and sidekick. He is a very foolish, clueless and unintelligent starfish but still friendly and well-meaning. Patrick is quite overweight and loves ice cream and many other junk foods. He resides under a rock which he claims he built all by himself. SpongeBob and Squidward are his neighbors.
Patrick's characterization in the post-movie seasons has been subject to controversy among viewers as his negative traits were "flanderized". However, he's ultimately still a kind, helpful and benevolent starfish that behaves like a hero most of the time.
He is voiced by Bill Fagerbakke.
