"Ha! You got the cat box!" ― Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong, also known as DK for short, is the titular main protagonist of the Nintendo video game franchise of the same name and the main antagonist of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. The original Donkey Kong was once a rogue in the Nintendo universe and immediately antagonized Mario (who, in turn, antagonized him back in one game) - however he was revealed to be Cranky Kong in the Donkey Kong Country series. The current Donkey Kong is the protagonist of his own series, first appearing in Donkey Kong Country. He often stops the villain King K. Rool from stealing his banana hoard.
He regularly makes guest appearances in the Mario series, playable in spin-off games, such as Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Mario Strikers, Mario Hoops 3-on-3, and Mario Baseball. DK also became an ally to Mario in the Mario Party series and Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move. Other than spin-off games, Donkey Kong appears as a baby in Yoshi Island DS.
He makes an appearance in the Super Mario Bros. movie voiced by Seth Rogen, who also voices Mantis in Kung Fu Panda and B.O.B. from Monsters vs. Aliens.
